How to: Beginners Red Lip

Wow, isn't that a bit bright. If you've been reading my blog for a while then you'll know that bright lips are never really my thing and nudes are my little safety circle. I have been trying to be more adventurous but they have been many failed attempts. This time, however, I think I've cracked it. On Monday I did a post all about the Clinique Colour Pop Lipsticks (click here to read it) and how in just a few short weeks, they've made a big impression. Today I'll be focusing on just one of those beauties, Poppy Pop. A much raved about bright red that is a world away from anything that I normally wear. This look goes quite simple on the eye so that it all doesn't look overdone. I'm having such a winged eyeliner moment so that's included and I am just totally in love with this look. If you want to know how I did it then all you have to do is sit back, relax and watch the video below! Here's a list of the products I used on my entire face:

Makeup Forever Mattifying Primer
L'oread True Match Foundation // N1
L'Oreal True Match Concealer // 02 Vanilla
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder // 002 Pink Blossom
Sleek Brow Kit // Dark
Maybelline Brow Drama // Medium Brown
Mac Paint Pot // Painterly
Naked Smoky Palette
L'Oreal Superstar Super Liner // Black
Rimmel Kohl Kajal // Jet Black
Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara
Soap and Glory Solar Powder Bronzer
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush // Tipsy
Benefit Shy Beam Highlighter
Clinique Colour Pop Lipstick // Poppy Pop

Clinique Pop Lipsticks

I've been eyeing up the Clinique Pop Lipsticks ever since they came out. The packaging is stunning, the shade range is incredible and the reviews online could not fault them. With barely any money in my bank account and last minute shopping trip I took the plunge. I've wanted Melon Pop ever since I first saw them. It's the perfect nude-y peach that I didn't have in my collection. I'm totally in love with it. The picture below (that I posted on Instagram) is more true to colour whereas above it looks darker and pinker. This is my new Shy Girl, smokey eye lipstick favourite. I love the way it applies, it lasts a really long time and doesn't separate in a strange way on the lips. An all round, everyday winner! I did pole around the other 3 members of my family to see which other lipstick I should buy and it was a clean sweep, Poppy Pop. I don't have anything close to this colour or shade in my collection already and wearing it the first time was really stepping out of my comfort zone. I have to say it is now my favourite lipstick to wear, I'm obsessed. I love wearing it with a simple winged liner eye and I'm going to be posting that this Thursday so look out for it! I cannot recommend these enough and I'm tempted to just keep getting more and more shades. On a side note, the photo below has the highest amount of like by far of any of my photos, insane!

August Favourites

Another month, another favourites and this month I must have been in a really loving mood because there were so many things that I put on my list of favourites. I've cut it down to be my true loves so let's get started!

Clinique Colour Pop Lipsticks
I only bought these beauties last week but I have to say that I'm already in love! I've been eyeing these up for a while so when I was in the Trafford Centre last Saturday I took the plunge. I've always wanted Melon Pop but after a pole of my family I went for Poppy Pop. The only problem was that that was the only one that they didn't have. Because I really wanted one I went for Melon Pop and later that day I went to Debenhams to get my hand on Poppy Pop. I love how they are both so different and I can tell that these are going to be well loved!

Betty's tea and the best mug in the world
If you live in the Yorkshire are then no doubt you'll know what and where Betty's is but for those of you who haven't had the pleasure it's a tearoom (there are 4 in various towns and cities) that is just amazing. They serve gorgeous meals, beautiful cakes and the best cup of tea ever. So there was delight in my household when one of our relatives got my mum a Betty's gift bag that had some Betty's tea bags in it. We've stopped using our normal Tesco tea and I think it will be hard to go back. There's just something about it that makes it the best tea in the world. I love it! I bought my Rapunzel mug when I was in Florida and I love it so much. It's large which I like because you can get a lot of liquid in it and it just looks so pretty and cute. Both of these things together have been a major favourite this month!

Sweet potato and ranch
When I was on holiday in Florida at the beginning of this month (which I've never mentioned on this blog before, ha ha) I fell in love with jacket sweet potatoes. I love how easy they were to make, just shove them in the microwave and then the oven, and they were sticky and sweet and went with most meals. The icing on the sweet potato cake was putting it with ranch. OMG I just loooooove ranch! In the UK we don't have as much of a ranch thing as the americans and I have no idea why because it's just so amazing. I'm going to see if I can find some to take to uni with me because that will totally be my staple.

My furry friends
The picture above shows the latest fluffy toys that I've added to my collection. They're Thumper and Doug. They're super cute and I love them so much. That's all I have to say really, love them!

5 Minute Makeup (Sort Of)

I failed miserably. Before this attempt I tried to do my entire face of makeup in five minutes and as you can probably tell, it didn't work. So this time I decided the only way I was going to be able to do this was to time myself doing my makeup as fast as I could and then report back the results. As expected I didn't come anywhere near the time and did it in just under seven minutes. For me I don't think that it was too bad considering that normally that's how long it takes to do my base makeup but it's still not very quick.

I started with my Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream in the shade 00 and used the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to blend it all in. I like the finish that] this product gives as it blurs over the skin but doesn't make my face too greasy. For concealer I used the high coverage Revlon Colorstay in Light for any blemishes, redness and under eye circles and my powder of choice was the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 02 Rose Blush. I filled in my brows with a Chocolate Brown Eyeshadow from my Virgin Vie Palette and set them with the Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown. I kept it simple on the eyes and used the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold, my Rimmel Kohl Kajal in Saddle Brown and the Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black. Standard Soap and Glory Solar Powder Bronzer to give a glow to the face, Benefit Dandelion Blush and a Maybelline Eyeshadow in Golden Beige to highlight. For the lips I used my Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist which I'm really liking at the minute as it's my exact lip colour and gives a nice shine to the lips.

So although this was a bit of a fail it gives me the spark to give it another go and actually succeed in the five minute time limit.
