Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I've heard so much about this little orange sponge, everyone from friends to bloggers have raved about it, so I thought it was about time I gave it a go. I think that that this is one of the best 'brush' type products that I've ever bought, especially for face makeup. I always use it damp, as this way the application is meant to look more natural, and it works well with all of my foundations and concealers. I find that by applying the foundation separately to areas of my face (each cheek, then chin, nose, etc) then blend it in so that the foundation doesn't dry up before I have a chance to work it into the skin. In terms of which sides I use for what I mainly just use the flat side for everything. It works well on large areas, like my cheeks, and is great around the nose and eye area. The pointed side comes in handy for getting into the very inner corners of the eyes and is fine on blemishes but I find that the flat side retains more water making it easier to blend out some of my thicker concealers, like the Mac Pro Longwear. Overall I'd say if you haven't got some kind of sponge in your makeup collection then you need to go out and get one, it's a handy thing to have and you never know you might fall in love!

Favourite Friday: Real Techniques Bold Metals

There's something about makeup brushes that gets me really excited and, although some people think I have too many, I think that there are plenty of gaps in my collection for me. Enter the new Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection. Hotly anticipated, these brushes are more expensive that the standard collection but look so much cooler. With the long handle, weighted for optimal usage and gorgeous colours, I was sold. As my bank balance isn't brilliant at the minute I picked up one of the slightly cheaper brushes, that being one of the eye ones. The big fluffy Mac 217 caught my eye at the beginning but after a lot of thought I settled on the 201 Pointed Crease Brush. This brush is insane. I use it through the crease, as the name suggest, and to smudge shadow underneath the eye. The way that this brush is made means that doing a smokey eye has never been easier. It's as if all you need to do is put the shadow on the brush and let it get to work. I can't rave about this enough and when I have a few more pennies I have my eye on the tapered blush brush.

The countdown begins!

Birthday celebrations are a go go! Today me and my family took a trip to Leeds to have a meal at Brown's and it was soooooo good! I had asparagus and procutto to start and then chicken with some other stuff for main. With a lovely dark chocolate brownie to finish off, yum! Of course there was also a latte to finish it off!

               Day seven: Utensils

This day has made me really want some new make up brushes. One day a few weeks ago I went into Boots and nearly had a break down at the new range of Real Techniques brushes that were on offer. All of my will power was used to stop myself from grabbing them all and running to the till. Problem was I was waiting for my birthday money so I'll be really upset if when I'm ready to buy they've all gone! I will get you one day retractable bronzing brush...
