Tanya Burr First Impressions

Now I know that I'm a bit late to the party with this one but it's happened and I'm very glad it has! I bought a nail varnish and two of the lip glosses when they originally came out and although I grew to love the nail varnish I just couldn't get on board with the lip glosses. I found them to smell way too sweet, sticky and clumpy and that they went on streaky. The 'new' ones are MILES better and are everything that the old ones weren't. So let's get started with my first impressions.

As soon as I saw this nail varnish I fell in love with it. The colour is a gorgeous, a light blue with a hint of lilac, and as soon as I saw that it was called Fairy Godmother I knew that it had to be mine. I didn't buy it straight away but I couldn't stop thinking about how pretty it was and a week later I picked it up. I'm awful at painting my nails so in terms of 'how many coats' I'm not the best to be judging that but what I can tell you is that it went on nicely and applied opaquely. I did two thin coats and a thick one and that covered my nails. It's been on for a few days now and I have no chips, which is great because normally my nails manage to chip within 24 hours of painting them. I think I'm definitely going to pick up some more shades because I've fallen in love! The new packaging is amazing and looks so expensive and the lip gloss is so nice to handle and apply. I was sceptical to try the lip glosses again after the old ones but I can't explain how much better the new ones are. I picked up the shade Lunch Date because I wanted to try out a neutral colour that I'd wear everyday. This is my perfect nude. It's a pinky nude that hasn't got any shimmer in and gives your lips a lovely gloss. The applicator is perfectly designed to nicely fit to your lips and apply a nice amount of product. Now for the smell. If I could find a perfume that smelt like this so that I could spray it all over myself, I would. It's an amazing watermelon scent that is nice to smell when you apply it.

So far I've fallen in love with these two products so I'm definitely going to pick up more shades in both products. I also want to try some of the palettes so if anyone has any recommendations as to which ones to get then please let me know!

Pretty Nude Nails

I am having a total nude nails moment at the minute. Normally I'm into super bright colours and used to think nudes were pointless. I mean, why bother painting your nails if you're going to have a boring colour on them? I'm totally the opposite now. I love the 'chic' look they give the nails and it's a bit your nails but better if that makes any sense at all. I think the nude look is very autumnal and a nice look before the craziness of winter and Christmas roll in with the jewel tones and the glitters (although I am very much looking forward to the sparkle!).

The nail varnish that started it all off was the Topshop nail polish in Threadbare. I picked this up in my first year of uni at a student lock in because I fancied a bit of a change but haven't really fallen in love with it until recently. It's a nice nude-y brown that goes on really well in two coats and lasts around four days my nails, which for me is pretty long. I bought the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Almond as a neutral nail polish for work. It's not my favourite formula as I found it quite gloopy and easy to chip but the colour is quite nice. It's a little greyer than Threadbare but makes the nails look quite long. When Tanya Burr originally launched her lip gloss and nail polish range I rushed out to buy one of each. I picked up Penguin Chic because I liked the name but the colour at the time was totally not me. Now however I'm a huge fan. It's a little darker than the other nudes but still really nice. It lasts a decent amount of time on the nails and will be even nicer towards Christmas maybe with a glitter over the top. Last but not least is my most recent nude purchase which is the Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Polish in Pit Stop. It's a similar colour to Almond but slightly more lilac which I quite like. The formula is amazing and dries in an instant and the brush is thick which makes it easy to apply. It also lasts a good amount of time on the nails and is just an all round great polish.

Glittery Nails

Ever year at christmas time I get my finger and toe nails done so that they're super sparkly and really festive. I have Minx on my toes and Shellac on my fingers. This year on my toes I had an aztec pattern which is more summery than wintery but they look really good. On my fingernails I had a light gold glitter which looks silver in some lights on all of my nails and then a sprinkling of brown on my ring fingers. They look really good and have got me into the festive spirit!
