Is Maybelline Tattoo Brow a miracle product?

In a recent blog post where I went through some of my unloved products (read that here) I can across this - the Maybelline Tattoo Brow Long Lasting Tint. I bought this around when it first came out when I was wanting to spend a little less money on my brows. It seemed like a total miracle product. Costing around £10 it would save a decent chunk in the brow tinting department and there are three shades, light, medium and dark brown. I went for medium brown as although I have blonde hair I'm all about a dark eyebrow. The whole idea of this product is that you paint it on, wait for 20 minutes to two hours depending on how long you want it to last and then peel it off.

Now, I'll start with the positives. The applicator is a small brush making it easy to draw on the shape you want, it isn't at all messy and takes next to no time to apply. When it's on I can't feel it and, although it makes me look like I have sharpie brows, having it on for two hours isn't an issue. Peeling it off may seem like it's going to take all of the brow hairs with it but other than a few casualties it's totally fine. Overall it's an easy to use product for something that usually requires getting a professional in.

There is one main problem with this and it's quite a big one - it's orange. Like, the colour is orange. And I have no idea why. It's a perfectly normal colour when you go to bed the day of application but I've woken up to find two cheesy wotsits above my eyes. Not good. And that's the only thing stopping this product from being amazing because it has everything else going for it. The way I've been using it is as a guide for filling in my brows. Because I have such fair hair when I have no tint on my brows it can take quite a while to fill them in so by using this I already have a bit of a head start which is good. But I wouldn't go out with just this on my brows because, as I said, it turns them orange!

I will keep using this because I want to use it all up and I can just about get away with making it work - but there won't be a repurchase on the horizon.

For the fleekiest brows | Fleur de Force Brow Products

I was so excited when I saw Fleur's instagram story where she said she was releasing brow pencils. Yes! I'm totally in love with the Eylure Fleur de Force Brow Tamer Brow Gel in Medium and use it everyday so my expectations for the pencil were sky high. In Boots all Eylure products were on three for two so I went all in and got another brow tamer (my tinted side had totally run out) and two pencils, one in medium for me and another one in light for my mum (because I'm so generous, also I seriously don't need any more products).

Let's get into why these are my favourite brow products, ever. I love that the brow tamer has two ends, a tinted gel and a clear gel. The brush on the tinted end is really small and makes it really easy to fluff up my brows and fill them in a little bit more. I use this side more when I've just had my brows tinted and they just need a bit of something extra. Not crispy and doesn't make all the hairs stick together, great! The clear side has a slightly thicker brush so it's really easy to just swipe and go. I use this when I've filled my brows in with a pencil or a powder to set them into place. If you're in the market for a new brow gel I definitely recommend this one, two in one and they're both great.

Now onto the Eylure Fleur de Force Brow Define in Medium. What's not to love about this product (well maybe that it doesn't have a spooley thing but hey-ho). There are three shades, light, medium and dark and each of them have two ends, a lighter shade and a darker shade. I've never really attempted 'gradient brows' before so I was excited to give it a go. I have to say, I'm totally into it. The pencils are soft but not so soft that 1. I end up with really creamy brows and 2. they look like slugs. At first I thought the fact that it's quite cool toned would put me off as usually I go for quite a dark warm brown but so far I'm loving the way it looks. I go in with the lighter tone on the inner part of my brow then the darker tone on the rest. Love love love.

I seriously suggest checking these out. I haven't tried the powder yet, is it worth a go?

How to: Strong Brow Game

Now summer has come to an end it's time to bring out those dark, bold brows and I have to say I'm glad they're back. Throughout the spring and summer I was all about the blonde brows to soften everything up but looking at old photos of me with the dark brows I began to miss them! I like the way they look on anyone, especially when they're well shaped and... ahhh so nice. I'm going to share the products I use to achieve my brow look, which you can see in my upcoming everyday makeup routine on Monday, and I'd appreciate any more brow-age recommendations!

I was over the moon a couple of years ago when I got my hands on the Sleek Brow Kit in Dark. It was widely raved about at the time and for only £8 it's a great product. A dupe for the Benefit Brow Zing it has a wax and a powder to great the perfectly sculptured brow. I go in with the wax first to get the shape and darken the hair a bit and then I fill in the rest with powder. The brushes in this set are pretty good and the tweezers are my everyday tweezers and are pretty great. Next let's move onto pencils and as of the other day I became that person who owns the same product that usually is only one colour in multiple colours. The Soap and Glory Brow Archery Pencil in Blondeshell and Hot Chocolate. I've had Blondeshell for nearly a year now and I love the consistency of it but the colour was a bit too light for what I'm wanting. So the other day I went and picked up Hot Chocolate and I am totally in love. It goes on like a dream, the colour is the perfect brown, not too warm not too cool, and I just love it. Last but not least my brow gel of choice is the Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium Brown. I have used the L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper but the colour was a little too yellow and the formula was too gloopy. Whereas with the Brow Drama it dispenses the perfect amount of product, is my perfect colour and keeps my brows in place all day. I use this everyday either on its own or over my other products and I'm just in love.

Bang of the Brows

Brow time! I love my eye brows. I know it's a bit weird but I think that they're a good shape and the colour isn't too shabby either. That means that the brow products I use must keep to my high standard. Without further ado, let's dive in! First up is the light brown shade in my Virgin Vie palette. This is definitely the quickest way to put something onto the brow that still looks good. The colour is just how I like it, not so dark that they look like harsh lines on my face and not orange so they look unrealistic. I apply this with my Body Shop angled brush and it takes me literally five seconds and then I'm good to go. Next up is my Sleek Eyebrow Pencil in the shade Dark. This is a really creamy product so is really easy to apply and blend, but the problem is that it goes down quite quickly. I got it in the shade dark which works for me but for people with really dark hair I don't think that this would be dark enough. The nib is quite thick so it doesn't take too long too fill in and it comes with a spooley (no idea on the spelling) on the end which is great. Last but not least is the Soap and Glory Brow Archery in the shade Blonde Bombshell. I usually go for the darker colours but I fancied something to do a more natural brow which this product is perfect for. The nib is very thin, meaning it takes a little longer to do, and the colour is a very nice light but not too light blonde. I use this on days where I have a little more time. For this category I can't pick a winner because they are all good for different things and I love them all equally!
